  All of our staff hold certificates, awards and commendations in the working dog community, both here in the USA and abroad. We work under the philosophy that you "cannot train too hard for a job that can kill you".

IRENE HOWCROFT, Owner & Trainer
Irene founded Ruidoso Malinois and oversees the kennel's programs. She has brought a scientific approach to clarifying the needs to push standards in the breed to a higher level. In the counter-narcotics community, she is known for the first U.S. Department of State K9 program within the Mexican Department of Corrections. Her breeding program development and nutrition based programs are the baseline to numerous K9 programs here in the USA.

AARON, Trainer
Aaron comes from a mixed background in federal and state enforcement for numerous countries working dogs in primarily rural terrain. His techniques allow a unique way for multi-purpose teams to man-track, provide detection, provide patrol functions and, most importantly, move in conflict areas around the world. His primary focus at the academy is focusing on better communication and mobility of dog teams. He integrates heavy lessons from the field to modernize current K-9 teams to reach objectives in the ever-evolving real world.

HANS, Trainer
Hans comes from a U.S. Navy background where his central focus was in development and implementation of explosives detection K9 teams. He has worked the full spectrum of dual purpose K9 with explosive detection for executive branch details here in the United States to ground level establishment of capabilities in foreign countries. His primary focus, here at Ruidoso Malinois, is training K-9's and handlers to a higher standard of detection capability and bringing very current real world scenarios to give more depth to our curriculum.

ANDY, Assistant Trainer
Andy is often considered to have the best job out of all of us. He is a pupil in all our unique disciplines and truly has a style of training that is a mixture of our skills here at the kennel. He has worked dogs in every background and is rising up quickly as a student in our community.

We have a consistently revolving staff of guest trainers that allow us to remain current in the evolving world of counter-narcotics, patrol, tracking and explosives work. They are comprised of retired and active military, law enforcement and non-government personnel. We are embedded in the community to not only train to a higher standard but also utilize unique perspectives of guest trainers to the modernization and application of keeping K9 teams efficient.

REBECCA, Kennel Technician
Becky is responsible for kennel maintenance and assists in the facility development.

With large contracts other certified trainer team members are available to ensure that these contracts are fulfilled in a professional timely manner to the highest standard.
