Irene, I am writing this this to you in regards to the purchase of Callie. I am extremely satisfied with the the quality of this dog. I was equally impressed with your facility!! Being a former breeder of quality animals I am very familiar with what goes into it to say the least. If I had to rate your kennel I would have to give you 5 stars. Outstanding job Irene!!! Callie has not only met but has exceeded all of my expectations! I'm so glad I decided to go with you and having the opportunity to have this Superior quality animal!! If anyone has any questions regarding your integrity, facility, or quality of the dogs you're putting out feel free to use this letter as a testimony or they can talk to me personally. Once again thank you for the special animal!!! Will keep in contact as to her progress!!!

I wanted to let you know how well Axios is doing! First I can't tell you how wonderful a dog you have bred. He is a perfect fit for me. We have bonded so well! He loves going with me in the truck to run errands. It was so wonderful to fine Rick to work with us. I still can't believe that I found a trainer here in California that purchased his trained dog from you and knows you well. Axios has really started to grow up and start acting like a Malinois. Up until now he has been so easy going and relaxed. Now, he likes getting up at 5:30am, playing tug and then helping me carry buckets around at the barn. He amazes me on how much he wants to help out. If I don't give him a chore, then he will figure out how he can help and do it for me. He is good at tracking too and we have started bite development with Rick. If you would like to put me on your reference list, I would be more than happy to talk to people about your wonderful dogs. Thank you so much.

Randy D., Phoenix, Arizona
Lares is doing very well in her new home here in Phoenix. I am quite amazed at how strong she is emotionally, and how smart she is. I can sense a very tight bond already and she is very affectionate. The trip home went without a fuss, and she slept perfectly through the night. She seems to be already house trained, doing her business on command with the other dogs outside, and she also had her first training today (for 5 minutes) on "sitz". She also is very good at the "here here" command very quick, and precise - and she seems to have great fun fetching (just for fun now). She gets along great with all our dogs, and feel very much at ease and at home already. An amazing canine.

She is quite calm actually for a puppy it seems to me, yet very alert. You have created quite an amazing companion for us, we really appreciate your dedication to the breed and your discipline to maintain the breed, it is a lot of work and it shows. Thanks for the tips and advice in her training, I will do my best to give her the proper guidance so that she continues to be a well-tempered, intelligent and well-mannered canine. I wish we had spent more time with you.

Yuichi O., Los Angeles, California
I got my first Malinois, (Valentine) 11 years ago when I lived in Downtown Los Angeles. I picked this breed because I was looking for a dog that would protect the house. I quickly realized that this breed would teach me more about me than I could myself. When Valentine turned nine I decided to bring another Malinois into the house. I dug deep looking for the right breeder and stumbled upon Irene and Ruidoso Malinois's, and I am so thankful I found them. I own a Kickboxing gym (LAKO) in Eagle Rock, California and Koko comes with me to the gym everyday. Koko is so friendly with all of the members and is sort of a celebrity around here. Koko is a teddy bear at the gym, but at home she is such an amazing protector. Koko's is so strong for her size, and her endurance is thru the roof. I have owned dogs my whole life, and I have never had a dog with the strength and agility that Koko has. Irene has some amazing bloodlines, and I will be going back to her when I am ready to add another member to my family.

I am a recovery agent in Florida. My job is to not trust a word out of people. I deal with the as Irene put it, "the underbelly of the world". I, as I live, didn't quite trust an on line phone call purchase of an animal that is quite possibly to save my life. With great expectation comes disappointment, but this was not the case here. I will gladly give my info and phone number to anyone who has questions. Her dogs are more than amazing and exceeded every expectation that I had. Thank you Irene.

Lacrederick J., Washington
A year ago I was looking for a family dog that had energy, was smart and at the same time could be a protector for my family. I called Irene and told her what I was looking for, what my family dynamics were and she said, "No problem I have the perfect dog for you". A couple of weeks later I received Atto, a 6 month old Belgian Malinois that was perfect. We spent a lot of time together and I was blown away at how SMART this dog was. Training was fun because he picked up on things with about three repetitions and I was quickly looking for more to teach him.

Atto is a great family dog. He sits right next to me, my son or my wife in a nurturing but protective way. He is very alert on walks and I feel 100% confident he will ensure my family is protected when I'm away. Irene has been a pleasure to work with, both as a breeder and trainer. I've called, emailed and sent text messages when I had questions about food, training and socialization of Atto. She always answer and would then call or email to check on how we were doing. I'm definitely not getting another dog from anyone else and the only thing stopping me from getting a second one is that we live in a urban area and I don't have a enough space for two. Keep doing what you are doing. It has been a pleasure. Owner of the best dog I ever had.

Shannon B., Texas
I have a female pup and she is simply amazing!! Couldn't be happier with my purchase. And Irene is THE BEST and most loving and helpful breeder that I have come across in years!! Thank you so much RM for such an extraordinary animal!!

Randy D., Arizona
Zoe turns two today, just wanted to thank you again for doing such a terrific job breeding such wonderful companions. She is now becoming more adult, it seems that she has taken longer than most dogs to reach this stage, and I think possibly that just as us humans, the more intelligent you are the more time it takes to mature. Not a day goes by where I do not get a compliment from someone on how beautiful she is. And it is her sharpness and physical form that really stand out to cause these remarks. Each weekend morning (twice) we hike up the mountain behind our home so she (and I) are nice and fit. She has many cute habits around the home, loves to work, play and snuggle, she is very aware and very loving, she and I have a very strong bond.

Lindsay and Eric M.C., New Mexico
I just wanted to give you a quick update on our boy Mavrik! We couldn't be happier with him, he is potty trained, does great on the leash on our daily runs, and is great with people & other dogs. He is also an amazing companion and is so loving! Both Eric and I have never owned a smarter and more responsive dog to commands. Him and our son 4 year old son Jax have become very close and it is so fun to see them grow together! We have kept up with all of the German commands and he learns very fast! Eric and I love working with him everyday! Thank you so much for your help we are truly blessed to have him in our family!

Yuval L., Indiana
Before I got Nyx (Ruidoso's Atum)I did a lot of research about Malinois and talked to some breeders and felt very confused until I talked to Irene. I knew the breed is different because of their activity and intelligence levels but after a lengthy conversation with her I felt very comfortable. She has a depth of knowledge about the breed and carefully selected the right pup for me and has been readily available when I had questions for her. I got Nyx 10 months ago and !WOW! he's an amazing dog! He is extremely intelligent and a fast learner. I do Schutzhund with him, which he just loves! What I find amazing is that he has very high drive to work, does wonderful bite work and obedience and then he comes home and turns into a cuddly LARGE lap dog. I truly feel blessed for him to be part of our family. Thank you Irene. (Competing in IPO)

Having driven 3 days one way for our pup the trip was well worth the time and money. Just wanted to let you know how much we are enjoying Utja. She is everything we could have hoped for in a search dog - curious, bold, calm, confident, and eager to please. We got exactly what we wanted and I hope I get an opportunity to ask you to pick out another one for us in a year or so. Thank you!

James R., California
Several years ago my son purchased a female pup from this kennel and she is now fully trained as a personal protector family dog. Sweet and loving as can be but with one word she can change and it is most impressive. I decided to buy a Belgian Malinois puppy from Irene. I talked with her several times and read all the online postings about the litigation and her response. Since the integrity of the breeder is important, I read her entire complaint on her website and the travesty she experienced. When I discovered she had prevailed I was convinced and ordered a female puppy from Irene.

She loves her dogs and if she does not think you would be a good home then you do not get one of her pups. I like her for being a no nonsense straight shooter. I drove the 1250 miles to her kennel from Northern California to pick up the puppy. I asked Irene for a look and see walk around tour. She agreed to show us the facility which has special setups for drug sniffing, tracking, explosives and police/military type activity. These are serious dogs being handled by serious people. It is a professional organization and it is obvious Irene is in complete control and has great care for her dogs. Irene gave us sheafs of information on how to care for the puppy. She answers texts, emails and phone calls promptly and has been very helpful. (James has since purchased 2 more pups personally, both in high-end training at the Michael Ellis School for Personal Protection, 3 in total)

I have spoken with you a number of times since we got Montu, but just want to thank you again, and let other people know what a great experience it has been working with you. Couldn't have gotten a more healthy, happy, puppy. Montu , was 16 weeks old, now at a little over 6 months, is very settled, extremely protective of our house and my family. Yet he loves everyone he comes up to in public. Cautious at home about strangers till you tell him it's OK, then is very sweet. Loves kids, we have tried to socialize him best we could. Gets lots of praise for being a good boy. Montu was pretty much house broke when I got him. Irene did a great job with him in that aspect. I picked him up early morning and drove 13 hours with no accidents, wow! Irene's place was clean, smelled good, all the dogs looked very healthy. I was impressed and am encouraging my boss to get a puppy soon from Irene. Montu is very easy to teach, crazy smart. He already comes, sits, lays down, stays, bites, outs, heels, it's amazing. We love him, keep doing what you are doing, Irene.

Samantha K., Texas
My family was looking for a puppy to introduce into our household. We searched through many breeds before we decided on a Malinois. Irene was fantastic at listening to our wants/personality and then recommending a suitable pup. Bubbles came to us at 4.5 months old and she far exceeded our expectations. After a few days of settling in she has proved to be loyal, confident, not aggressive and very well mannered already at her young age. We have two small children and their supervised play time together with Bubbles has been such a joy to watch. She is engaging but careful and very respectful of them. The care Irene and her staff have taken to socialize their pups is evident in how stable Bubbles is. I only see it getting better from here.

Tom T., Pennsylvania
I have been training an raising Malinois since '97. I was supervisor and trainer of my departments K-9 unit. I raised all my dual purpose street dogs from pup up and started pup up in my unit. Any officer wishing to be on the unit got either a pup or a green young dog to raise with guidance of me. I have currently retired from police department. And I am looking for a nice size drivey female to work in high end sport an also compete in police dog competitions. I will be putting drug work on this pup. I'm not sure yet what sport but I rather have more drive then less and dial it in where I need it. I'm a demanding handler but fair. We are a working dog home. My son is also police k9 handler. We train everyday. If we don't train we are conditioning. I have seen many of your dogs over the years work and they always were bold forward nice pups. You do a great job producing and keeping the working Malinois Alive and true! I'm looking forward to getting a dog and getting to work.

Melba C., Arizona
I want to tell you what a joy Fides is. After being a K9 handler for many years I had a void that she filled in my heart. She is incredibly smart and very loving. I can't imagine not having her now. I knew what I wanted when I was looking for a dog and she is 100% everything I could have asked for. I would definitely recommend you to my friends or anyone who is looking for a quality canine. Thank you so much!

Jeff S., Illinois
I would like to thank you for all your help in obtaining the high drive, intense Malinois puppy I was looking for. After a few phone calls with you in telling you what I was looking for you gave me your word you had the puppy to meet my needs. I have had Loki for a month now and am confident I made the right choice in purchasing a puppy from Ruidoso Malinois. We have bonded well and he is a healthy ,intense, clear-headed malinois eager to learn. I am confident he will make an excellent dual purpose police K9. I would certainly recommend you to anyone looking for a Malinois.

I would like to extend my sincere appreciation in my recent purchase of a female Mal puppy named Epona from you. She has exceeded every expectation that I could have ever had. Even as a young "green" dog, the breeder had gone the extra mile to lay down some obedience fundamentals. This had made for an easy transitions into our family. Epona has been bred from a highly reputable pedigree, giving her a high ball and bite drive and the willingness to please. Making Epona also extremely alert and very protective, allowing her to be a great candidate for personal protection. Irene also worked with me on added training tips, which enabled Epona and I to build that special bond before I took her home.

I just returned from a deployment in Afghanistan, and much of this transaction was done over emails, and phone calls. Irene always made herself available to answer any and all questions to ensure that Epona was a right fit for my family. All vaccinations were documented, and Epona flew back to Kentucky with me with no problems. Epona's temperament, health, and wonderful personality and beauty. Again, thank you for all you have done, and thank you for blessing my family with our newest member! We are going to build on the training that has already been established, and continue to develop and train on bite work. I truly could not have dreamed for a better puppy.

Jon and Andrea, Tucson, Arizona
My wife and I met Irene in late 2013 through an online search for a Malinois pup we could raise as a family dog. Irene hooked us up with Esus, a 14 week old pup who she thought fit the bill. We drove out to Ruidoso and met Esus and immediately we loved him. You could tell that Irene really cared about the well being of Esus, and she gave us lots of helpful tips on raising him.

Now Esus is 8 moths old, 55 pounds, and a very good looking pup. He lives for playing fetch (he goes absolutely nuts for his ball and soft frisbee), hanging out on the couch, and taking walks in the wash. Esus loves people, and he is starting to warm up to other dogs. We are very happy with our pup, and very grateful to Irene for linking us up with Esus. I would definitely recommend Irene to people looking for a high drive, fun loving dog to be part of their family.

We have had the good pleasure of getting to know Irene Howcroft and Ruidoso Malinois by internet first and then by phone. We had detailed conversations with Irene who shows a rare depth of commitment to raising the best Belgian Malinois'. She educated us with her knowledge and passion helping us understand the unique and brilliant dogs that she raises. We made the arrangements and had pictures sent and also called many of the other previous customers Irene had done business with. Buying a dog sight unseen with a wire transfer was a bit scary, but Irene followed through on everything she said she would do. The dogs arrived as scheduled and it all unfolded as planned. We have already taught them all the basic commands of sit, lay, stay, come, walk on a leash, and fetch.

The best part of having the two together is they play with each other. They tire each other out with the playful activities. Having two dogs at once would not be for everyone but with a family of four, everyone helps in making their day a happy one with walks, playtime, and lots of love. Amon and Sia are our newest additions. They are a part of us and we are a part of their Malinois pack. Amon and Sia watch over us, sense our moods, and are eager to share their special kind of Malinois love. I highly recommend Irene as she has continued to give us advice and counsel as we are raising Amon and Sia. Irene has been available by phone and answers our calls, emails and texts with questions gladly.

My wife, my 9 year old, 5 year old and 4 month old baby drove out to Ruidoso Malinois to see our dog Cura before we purchased her. We played and interacted with our dog for a while and then looked at the whole kennel/ grounds for ourselves. We were very impressed with the kennel, it was clean and the dogs were very healthy. She had other dogs for sale however based on our request we were shown Cura. She just had a vet visit for her booster and a check-up. The vet at Petroglyph Veterinary Center said the dog looked and sounded good. Cura has high drive and is very friendly to our family. All in all we are VERY satisfied and happy with the newest member of our family. She is a quick learner and when she gets older I am planning on going back to Irene's for Personal Protection and Guard Dog Training. I definitely recommend Irene and Ruidoso Malinois. You can contact me if you have any questions or want to know anything about my Cura.

I meet Irene when i myself was looking to purchase a new malinois puppy. I have own and worked malinois for 7 year. LOVE the breed.I did a lot of research before picking a breeder and Ruidoso Malinois was at the top of my list. Went to see Irene and checked out her dogs and puppy's and man was i impressed, Her dogs are kept in clean and safe kennels and are in very good physical condition. She whelps and raise her puppy's in her personal home where they get hands on care, She supplements theire feeding with helps take the load demand of milk off the mom, it also helps the puppy's to associate humans are good. She also provides toys and play time for her puppy's. I have been a veterinary technician for 25 years and have seen my share of puppy mills and neglected dogs. Irene or Ruidoso Malinois do NOT fit the bill of puppy mill or a neglected breeder. She has the upmost respect for her dogs and puppy's. If you understand and love the Malinois dog and are looking for a new family member than you can not go wrong by working with Irene / Ruidoso Malinois to find you the right dog.

I have been in law enforcement for fourteen years. I have often considered the option of getting a K-9 as a partner, never fully understanding the true benefits of having one. Approximately six years ago I accepted a position as a transport officer in a correctional facility. I deeply regret it taking six years for me to conclude that a K-9 would make cell extractions, searches and confrontations with inmates easier and almost non existent. After weeks of research I reached via phone Ruidoso Malinois, which is where I believe that I HIT THE JACKPOT.

The newest member of my family was purchased on August 30, 2013. Nomsa the son of Sire Cobe and Dam Chila is predicted not only by Ruidoso Malinois but every trainer that has had the privilege of watching him work and raise the bar of what's expected out of a K-9. Nomsa possess the hunt drive to find ANY scent that he is trained on and the bite drive to bite and hang until his new dad (ME) lets him know we have accomplished what we set out to do. What is even more impressive to my family is that before, during and after we work my twenty month old granddaughter can interrupt and mall Nomsa with no worries from me of him hurting her. I am not trying to show favoritism (well, okay I am) there is no K-9 like him on earth, but if you want to try and find one Ruidoso Malinois is where to look fair price, fantastic animals. (He has since purchased a second pup from Ruidoso Malinois)

I would like to let you know about Hunter. Prior to speaking with you I spent several months researching breeders and wanted to hear about how they breed and what makes them think they have the Mal everyone seeks. From the moment I spoke with you I could tell that this is what you do. The amount of knowledge you have about the breed along with information you shared with me about the mother and father and the outcome of previous litters and what those dogs are currently doing told me I had at last found the right breeder. I had requested something very specific; a calm house pet good with kids along with a high drive. I felt very confident that I was making the right choice. I got exactly what I asked for except I honestly didn't expect him to excel so fast and impress everyone on the bite field every time.

He is now settled into our family perfectly and we are his humans. Hunter reciprocates his appreciation by not letting strangers come near us and then snuggles with my 8 and 7 year old daughters to sleep every night. Every time we go on to the bite field the trainers and decoys are most impressed at his ability, intelligence and incredible bite drive. We all keep forgetting he is still a puppy. At 7 months old he is on a hard sleeve, pop ups over barrels and trailers along with heavy punching muzzle work. Hunter is indifferent to gunfire and is very clear minded and focused despite the presented challenge of hectic diversions. Thank you so much for giving us the perfect family addition. I'll continue to let you know how Hunter excels as we go through training. (Has purchased a second pup from Ruidoso Malinois)

Judy T.
We took Thalia to the vet yesterday for her last booster. She had gained seven pounds. She is growing leaps and bounds! She is potty trained at this point and adjusting well to her life here. She likes to ride in the truck. She has a hammock and wears a seat belt harness which allows her to lay down. We put toys in for her to play with and she does well with this and she seems to enjoy it. She loves the snow. She takes her bleach bottle and pushes it all over the yard at full speed. She loves to eat the snow. She opens her mouth, puts it to the ground and runs, filling her mouth with snow. It is the funniest thing to watch. Thalia is amazing! I/we her so very much!!! Truly she is our cheer up puppy! She is a wonderful addition to our family! We send our best wishes to you for a blessed Christmas season. May God bless You and yours Irene. I think of you often.

Judy T. responding to a client asking for reference
Hi Robert, my name is Judy, my husband Craig emailed you this morning. I just wanted to add my perspective on Irene and her facility. Our first experience with Irene, was when we went down to purchase our puppy. We were pleased with how clean the kennels were. The puppies were healthy, alert, playing. The other dog pens were clean and the animals looked well cared for. Irene is knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. I liked her right away. I also am impressed with how she interacts with the dogs. She is very patient, loving and gentle with them. We also observed her training techniques, for drug training as well as search and rescue. We were impressed.

We also met a customer of hers, who was from El Segundo California. He shared with us, that he could have purchased a dog (drug dog) several other places closer to home, but he wanted one from Irene; because of how she handles the dogs. So it was worth using his vacation time to purchase a dog specifically from her. All in all our experience was favorable. I would not hesitate to purchase another dog from her in the future. We are planning on having her train Thalia, for protection as well as a service dog. I hope this was helpful with your decision making.

Jessi S., California
After 3 years of excruciating deliberation on what breed of dog we would get my husband and I finally decided on The Belgian Malinois. If you are reading this you know the breed and I do not have to tell you that loyalty, smarts, protectiveness and trainability topped our list. Once the decision was made I started scouring the internet to learn what I could. With an absence of breeders in my state I realized I would have to look further out. I soon found Ruidoso Malinois website and shot off an email to Irene. Everyone, including all people who had visited her kennel and had nothing but good things to say. We decided to take a trip down ourselves last May. The kennel was clean, well maintained. She knew each dog, its story and its purpose. The kennels were large and the exercise area huge. The pups are whelped and raised inside her home, one litter at a time. In May of last year Irene shipped us a 5 month old pup. She was a Fyla/Cobe pup and she was beautiful. She was graceful and well mannered but she was not the right dog for us. She was a one-person dog and she bonded like superglue with me. Having a child in the house this just wasn't going to work. Honoring the contract for a 30 day return without so much as a balk, Irene took her back and successfully re-homed her.

For almost a year we waited for the litter we wanted - another Fyla/Cobe pup and we finally got him. He is going to be a terrific dog for us. We got him at 12 weeks and only 2 weeks later he comes when called, is super successful at potty training and is incredibly sweet and tolerant of noisy family life. During that year I wondered if Irene would put us on the back burner. She had our money. Would we get a pup? Would she take my calls? Answer my texts? Yep, she sure did. Every last annoying one about who was pregnant and when and how many the ultrasounds showed and blah blah blah. She was accessible, available and forthcoming. And she sent us a good little friend who will grow up with my son, be his playmate and protector and faithful companion. Priceless. I highly recommend her for her integrity, knowledge and breeding stock.

Jason M., Albuquerque
I just wanted to say thank you so much for my incredible puppy! I am so in love with her, she is amazing! I am making sure to take lots of pictures of her that I will be sending you. The children in my class think she is fantastic! I have given her the name Sirona which is the Gaul goddess of healing! I thought since she will be working as a therapy dog that would be appropriate! She is so smart and caring and loving! I can't express enough gratitude!

Rena M., Florida
I'd like to thank you for giving us high quality Belgian Malinois female puppy and also for being promptly available for any questions we have had both before and after receiving Coco. She is a playful, beautiful and a very alert, protective dog. She is everything we hoped for and more. We are very happy about our purchase and plan on enjoying her for years to come.

Angie F., (SAR candidate) Pennsylvania
I just wanted to give you an update on Vikela. She is doing very well and definitely keeps me busy. She had her first vet appointment yesterday. The vet said that she looks great and is very healthy. She received her rabies vaccine and goes back in a month for her distemper booster and to get micro chipped. She is weighing in at 23 pounds. Her and Max chase each other and tug each other around the yard with a Kong toy. She is in love with him and follows him every where. Everyone says how gorgeous she is. She is almost completely house broken already with very very few accidents now. She stays right by my side and never takes her eyes off of me. She is really a perfect dog. She is also very very good with my 4 year old and lays with him every night while he falls asleep.

One month later
I hope all is well with you. Wanted to give you another update on Vikela. She is just simply amazing! I have taught her sit, come, heel and stay. We are working on down. Lol. She is by my side constantly and loves car rides. She is getting bigger every day. :-) I take her with me to search training every time and we have started working on simple things like run always with her. Her drive is incredible and I couldn't be happier with her!

John B., Florida
Lykia, renamed Mallory, is doing AWESOME! Her bite and drive are amazing. The Master Trainer I work with says she is incredible. Thank you for such an exceptional pup.

Eddie P., Arizona
First of all I would like to thank Irene. Working breeds should remain working breeds - End of story. Irene is the first person I called where the very first time we hit it off and have continued to do so since our first conversation. She understands the ins and outs of her breed. She breeds dogs for working purposes. There is a reason her pups are exported internationally, they are superior in every way. In America we get dogs from overseas because once the US gets their hands on a breed they tend ruin them by making them show dogs.Irene loves her breed and will not allow her stock to fall into the hands of the inexperienced and ignorant folk.

If you are a first time mal enthusiast, listen to RM. She will not push you aside, but will welcome you to the working dog realm. The fact that she sells dogs to Europe is enough credibility as a real working dog person. She is not a puppy mill. She breeds dogs as well as trains them for the real world. If you are looking for a social, intelligent, loyal, stamina, agile, intense prey drive and hunt drive dogs with the attitude to protect its handler at all costs, this is the breeder for you. Many of her dogs dual purpose dogs. Ranging from personal protection, sport, tracking, narcotics, and cell extraction dogs to name a few. Contact this kennel for a great working dog. Don't waste your time with the rest.

Randy A., California
I was looking for a quality puppy to teach my son how to train a police dog, (he wants to be a cop). I saw Irene's web site and gave her a call. Her puppies were more expensive than most, but she appeared to be breeding what I was looking for. So I took a chance and paid the deposit. It was a long wait and I wondered if I had made a mistake trusting in her sales pitch. As soon as I got the pup out of the shipping crate at the airport I knew that I had not. The pups structure is solid, it's movement sound. And as I discovered the next day at home, it's prey drive is unbelieveable. I own and operate a boarding kennel in the San Fransico Bay Area and have several local police departments that board their dogs with me from time to time. Currently there are five different police dogs from three different departments that stay here. None of those five have half the prey drive that this pup has.

My wife and I decided that we wanted a Belgian Malinois to join our family as a companion, especially for our 1-year old daughter. I'd researched the breed for nearly 20 years but had never actively contacted a breeder. I found Ruidoso Malinois after an online search; thus began my contact with Irene. I knew it was especially important to learn about the breeder and breeding practices before acquiring a high energy, high drive Malinois.

From the very beginning, Irene was helpful and informative. I immediately sensed her commitment to the breed and she quickly assessed that a female Malinois was our best bet and promised that she would pick the appropriate dog from one of her litters. We couldn't have imagined just how spot-on Irene would be. She chose Arrow - a gorgeous puppy, and the most "docile" of the litter. Docile is a relative term for a Malinois - Arrow is high energy and enjoys lots of exercise, which we love to provide. With Irene's intuitive understanding and fastidious breeding of her dogs, we're fortunate that Arrow is exceedingly gentle with our daughter and the two get along famously- Arrow even tolerates the sometimes less-than-gentle fur and ear-pulling as our daughter learns how to play. Arrow even gets along well with our cat.

Irene really cares about her Malinois, and she also cares about the integrity of the breed. She maintains strict adherence to the breed standard and produces unparalleled working dogs rather than catering to those who desire the fancy show-type dogs who've largely had the characteristics that make Mals so great bred out of them. If you've done your research and you want a top quality Malinois, I recommend you call Irene!
